A defensive midfielder, Vicente del Bosque played over 400 games for Real Madrid, scoring over 30 goals.
He won five La Liga titles (1974-75, 1975-76, 1977-78, 1978-79, 1979-80) and four Copa del Rey titles (1973-74, 1974-75, 1979-80, 1981-82).
He scored a goal in the 1980 Copa del Rey final, which they won 6-1 against their reserve team Castilla.
He played in the 1981 European Cup final, losing 1-0 to Liverpool.
